Norton antivirus IS a virus.

Norton antivirus is a virus. Its a social-virus. An infection on peoples minds that leads them to believe without spending lots of money on bloated software suites their system will brought to a standstill. And it works.....they spend lots of money....and their spend the rest of their life waiting for their system to respond becuase it is so bogged down with antvirus and anti spyware 'solutions'.

These packages cause more annoyance and more anger by consuming systems to the point of sheer failure than actual viruses and spyware do.

Antivirus software suites really really slow down computers, i wonder how much power is wasted in processor time by software suites such as Norton system works. And what is the benefit? I havent run antivirus software in years. I have occasionally got a trojan or spyware on my machine but its always my own fault - either downloading something dodgy or letting a someone else using my computer.

These programs are counter-productive and people should be tought how to use a computer without infecting it instead of being sold over-marketed system-hog crap.

Well done M$, you've acutally impressed me.

Now this is a curious starting point for my blog, as I'm not someone who is known for being impressed, satisfied or generally anything other than cynical about stuff. Especially stuff that comes out of Redmond.

Now before you read into this being my decleration of being a standard issue anti-microsoft twat let me state this is not the case. This blog isnt about me earning 'cool points' by slagging Vista and everything MS. Vista isnt as much of a farse as people like to make it out to be. The majority of slander about Vista is written just becuase people enjoy slagging it. If Ubuntu was made by MS, everyone would say it was shit - and tbh I'm not that impressed with Ubuntu.

Anyway, I digress...

The other day I actually got a virus on my home PC. This is a big thing for me because I just dont get viruses or spyware. Anyhow, I set about getting rid of it, which I usually do quite successfully when I put my mind to it, however I admit I wasn't doing terribly well this time, when all of a sudden a Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool pops up and makes a mocery of my efforts by automatically removing the bloody thing for me.

Wow. Fuck Me. Thats a first...truly a milestone achievement for Microsoft.

BTW, the virus was trojan.vundu 2008
